Testimonial 1
I haul all kinds of things with my new Rapid Hitch. It is so versatile that I can pull any ball hitch trailer that I want to. I don't have to worry about items falling off the back of my trailer, because it is level with the bumper of my truck.

Ranch Hitch Adapter

HACKER SAFE certified sites prevent over 99.9% of hacker crime.

Without question, our 5th wheel goose-neck adapter (the Ranch Hitch Adapter) is the best adapter available for those who own a goose-neck style hitch and a 5' wheel trailer. The Andersen Manufacturing Ranch Hitch Adapter will easily and conveniently adapt most 5"' wheel trailers to most goose-neck style hitches that carry a 2 5/16" ball.

The *Ranch Hitch Adapter sports a remote cable system that releases and locks the trailer to the hitch. What's so great about this? The owner will never again have the need to climb into the bed of his or her truck to hook up or release the receiver from the hitch. Also, with a somewhat bell shaped receiver on the adapter, your lineup with the hitch ball and the 5" wheel adapter can be off about 3" and still be close enough for the ball to slide into the receiver end of the adapter.

Now, farmers and ranchers that own goose-neck style hitches and 5th wheel trailers, finally have a reliable and sturdy adapter that's built for the ease and convenience of the user in mind. No more standard 5th wheel hitch gobbling up precious and often much needed space in the bed of the truck. Order your own convenient and easy to use Ranch Hitch Adapter today.

The installation is simple and takes roughly an hour to complete. If you want to know how to measure the adapter to see if it will fit your 5th wheel, do the following: Back your truck into position to hook up your 5th wheel. Measure from the "pin plate" (on the pin box) down to the top of the ball (goose-neck hitch)in the bed of your truck. When the adapter is fully compressed it will measures 11 3/4". It has 3" of adjustment, so when its is fully extended that measurement will be 14 3/4". You should have 5" or 6" of clearance between the over-hang and the sideboards of your truck, keeping in mind your 5th wheel needs to be level for traveling.

*A special note: Due to the fact that short bed pickup trucks are increasing in popularity, manufactures have designed a super extended or lengthened pin box that increases the distance between the truck and the 5" wheel trailer. This creates conditions for a driver to enjoy a tighter turning radios while towing his or her trailer. As the distance between the truck and the trailer widens, it minimizes the chances for the cab of the truck to hit the overhang of the trailer while in a sharp turn.

These specially designed pin boxes are know fairly well in the industry as super extended pin boxes. They have a total overall length of 30" (measuring from the back of the box, to the from edge of the pin box) and beyond. Because of the added leverage to the frame of the trailer (inherent in the extra length of the pin box) we recommend that this adapter NOT be used. It may create too much leverage on the frame of the trailer.

Another important point to consider! Most manufactures design pin boxes and trailer frames in varying degrees of strength and durability. Most short and medium extended boxes are manufactured with sufficient reinforcement on the inside of the box to counter the added leverage the Ranch Hitch Adapter creates. This means they are designed with gussets in the interiour of the pin box and/or channel tubing running from the front of the pin plate to the back, and running over the top of the king pin. This creates much greater strength to the pin box as a whole. All this can be checked (with most pin boxes) by reaching your hand into the box from the back side. Then, feel around for the above mentioned reinforcements. If it's there-your good to go! If it's not, reconsider mounting this adapter to that particular pin box. Most dealers know the difference between a well constructed and sturdy pin box and one that's not. We suggest you get advice from a reputable dealer before installation.
